a modern nod to a staple in Ibanez’ history
The Ibanez RG655 electric guitar! This continuation of the beloved 550 models carries the “workhorse” qualities of it’s predecessors with class. Modern touches to a classic fan favorite.
This guitar, in my opinion, is the archetype of the “Super Strat”, “shred”, style guitar, it’s presence is daunting, the construction is quality you can tell your friends about, and the utilitarian function of this guitar that let’s you effortlessly leap between genres are just a couple things to jive about. With a 5-way pickup selector switch and an Ibanez Edge double locking floating tremolo these guitars are built to work. Three pickups and a pick guard on these models lets you know Ibanez designed this guitar for the long haul while nodding to more classic designs, but that’s about where it ends in Ibanez’ variation of the formal electric guitar.
The neck is where it all begins for me, complete comfort for total control. A thin neck and flat fretboard gives you unparalleled access across the entire fretboard. With such a deep cutaway near the high register you’ll have no trouble reaching those high lead notes and even less trouble letting it rip when you get that high with no bulky cutaway impairing your shred and the Ibanez Prestige fret edge treatment is just icing on the cake. Pair that neck with the Edge double locking floating tremolo and you’re already in Shred Heaven, but I haven’t even mentioned the stock loaded DiMarzio pickups, the Air Norton(neck), the True Velvet(middle), and The Tone Zone(bridge) which really compliment the versatility of this Super Strat, allowing a myriad of tones right out of the case, from clean and crisp to twangy and punchy right to a nicely voiced bridge pickup.
So! I’m gonna go out on a limb to say that I recommend every guitarist should at least try or own at least one RG655 to see and more importantly feel the consistency of these amazing instruments; three pickup, pick guard, style guitar, not for the name but for the versatility that arguably rivals its father style guitar, the Stratocaster. It’s a solid piece of professional equipment that’s reliably constructed, manufactured with high quality, and again, a very versatile tool that you’ll find yourself picking up time and time again to melt faces.
It’s always a pleasure to write about such beautiful instruments and I hope I sparked some interest if you haven’t been drooling over these models already! Click the following link to purchase one of these beautiful guitars for yourself! – http://www.zzounds.com/a–3858995/item–IBARG655
